Education & Qualification:

Dr Shivanand is our principal dentist and director of “SmileAlign Dental”. He has a particular interest in “Digital Dentistry” apart from his specialization in Orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry such as “Invisalign”. He has invaluable experience of over 15 years in the field of clinical dentistry and is a member of the Royal College Surgeons of Edinburgh (UK) and the Indian Orthodontic Society (IOS). Dr. Shivanand values being able to contribute to his community by educating patients and making a positive impact on their oral health. He approaches both small cases and full-mouth cases with the same philosophy – offering the best dental treatment available so patients can have healthy, confident smiles.

Growing up, Dr. Shiv spent most of his youth in Bangalore, schooling at the Institute of Manpower Planning and Career Training (IMPACT), and then to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences where he completed his under graduation in Government Dental College and Research Institute, Bangalore where he won the Best Outgoing Student award from amongst his batch of graduating dental colleagues.He then headed to Dharwad to complete his Masters in rthodotics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at SDM College of Dental Sciences. His academic and research orientation at the post graduate level along with good clinical skills resulted in an excellent performance at the Post Graduate examination which prompted the examiners to encourage him to take up the prestigious Diploma examination of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK which he duly cleared in the first attempt in the same year.

How he started:

He then returned to Bangalore to join as a Junior Researcher and Assistant Professor at the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in the Faculty of Dental Sciences, M S Ramaiah University, Bangalore. During the three years in the University he published numerous articles in national and international dental and orthodontic journals and was also a Reviewer for the Journal of World Federation of Orthodontists following which he left the university to join as a visiting Specialist Orthodontist at a reputed dental hospital in Muscat, Oman. The same year he started his own dental practice, SmileAlign Dental which is now expanded into a chain making a enormous difference to the respective communities!
